Queen Anne

Queen-Anne-style home built in 1889 by Charles E. Herrick. Herrick was associated with the old People's Bank & Trust Co. and later with the old Manufacturer's National Bank around the time the home was built. The Herricks moved to Chicago in 1900 and after working as an executive of a meat packing firm, Charles Herrick returned to Rockford in 1936 and became curator and president of the Winnebago County Historical Society. Mr. Herrick served as president of the first Chicago Rotary Club in the world. Mabel Herrick served as Trustee at Rockford College for around 50 years and she was a charter member of the YWCA. Ellen Riley purchased the five bedroom home in July of 1978. Owners Muhammed and Carol Aslam won the Heart of Rockford award in 1995 for neighborhood beautification. The Herrick Home is currently owned by Stepping Stones.
