Get Ready For A Blooming 2007

When the America in Bloom judges visited Rockford in 2005 the beauty and the heritage of Haight Village impressed them. They toured our neighborhood and made stops at the Natural Land Institute and the Erlander Museum. They had many encouraging words for our city. Rockford won first place in its population category thanks to the collaborative efforts of so many.
In 2007, Rockford will have a chance to show visitors what a wonderful place it is when it enters the America in Bloom contest again and has the honor of serving as host for the annual America in Bloom Symposium and Awards Ceremony September 27-30. We will have an opportunity to showcase our beautiful neighborhood once again when the judges visit July 9 and 10. Haight Village will also be a stop for groups touring the city during the Symposium. This is a chance to promote our efforts and show what a treasure this neighborhood is.
To kick off the gardening season, Haight Village will have a plant exchange Saturday April 28 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Luther and Janet Hill's back yard at 307 South 3rd Street.
